WSPA Approval for Continuing Education for Psychologists




The Washington State Psychological Association appreciates your interest in providing continuing education to psychologists. As we are approved by the American Psychological Association to offer CE credits to the psychologists in Washington, the following application, documentation, and review process is required. WSPA is not qualified to give CE credit for Web based CE events at this time.



Processing Fees


There are separate nonrefundable fees depending on the type of organization hosting the event as well as the size.


The fee for processing your Convention/Conference application is based on how many presenters will be at the convention. See table below.


If you are applying for approval of a single event, the fee for processing is $200 for non-profit and government agencies, and $300 for all others. All non-profit companies will need to provide proof of status.


In addition, there is a $15.00 charge for every CE certificate that is issued following the event.

 0-5 presenters  $400 each $275 each 
 6-15 presenters  $300 each $200 each
 16 to 25 presenters  $200 each $125 each

Below is a list of all materials that must be submitted to our business office in order for your application to be considered complete and for the review process to begin.The below materials and the processing fee MUST be received by our office 60 days prior to the event. The review process will take approximately 30 days. You will be notified of the decision. (If your application is denied, you may resubmit your program, with the necessary adjustments, without any additional application fee.)


Begin the process by reading this instruction form.

  • Download and complete the External CE Application form.
  • Nonrefundable application fee (see above or in the instruction form for fee schedule)
  • A Copy of the program attendance form to be used at the event - a sample is provided here
  • A copy of the program evaluation form to be used at the event - a sample is available here.
  • A copy of any marketing materials that will be used for the event (this could be bulk emails, brochures, flyers, web pages, etc.).
  • Full curriculum vitae of presenter(s).
  • Schedule of event or presentation including direct contact hours, breaks, lunch, etc. (Note: One CE credit hour equals 60 minutes of direct training time. Ethics credit must highlight or emphasize ethical aspects and cite the specific APA Principles and delineate which sections of the APA Code of ethics being discussed.  CE credit can only be issued in units of whole or half hours).

Within 30 days following the event, documentation of attendance in the form of a sign in/sign-out sheet, a summary of the evaluation forms (raw data is not accepted), and the fee for certificates should be sent to the WSPA office. Certificates will not be issued without valid proof of attendance. (Note: The list of attendees will be kept in our office for three years following the event; there will be a $25.00 charge for all re-issued certificates.)
