Strategic Plan 2014-2017
Share |

Responding to the changing nature of the profession of psychology and related demands on our association, the Board of Trustees of the Washington State Psychological Association has approved a strategic plan that frames the priorities and focus for the organization for the next three years.

The era of health care reform is fundamentally reshaping the practice of psychology. Traditional career paths in solo practice are giving way to institutional, organizational and group practice. Changes in the funding landscape are reshaping academics.  All this means profound shifts for how we manage our careers. It also signals changes in how your Association serves members.

This strategic plan takes into account changing assumptions about how to measure our success as an association, how to reach psychologists in diverse work settings, how the association best serves the needs of psychologists , and the importance of partnerships with other institutions and professional associations.

Areas of emphasis in the plan include:

  • better strategic and annual planning and execution
  • ongoing development of a vision for practice management to support both program plannings and advocacy
  • enhancing the relevance of continuing education and other resources to daily practice.

A summary of the strategic objectives and key strategies is available in the accompanying brochure available here Strategic Plan Brochure

You Can Make a Difference

As we implement this strategic plan, however, we recognize that this is only a beginning. The value of the plan will be realized only through implementation. For that we need you and we need to reimagine what an association of professionals can do when we work together for the good of our profession in the public interest.

The Board of Trustees is in the process of identifying needs for Task Force and ad hoc work groups to take on various projects that have been identified or may be identified in the coming years.  If you would like to become involved in shaping the direction of our industry, and support the resilience of our profession, please contact President Chris McCurry, or Kristin Baldwin, Executive Director,  to find out more.
